Setting the Advanced Space

This section describes the various settings for the Advanced Space such as the Open to Public settings,user authentication settings, and whether to allow users to use the Personal Space.
Setting the Advanced Space to be Open to the Public as a WebDAV/SMB Server
You can set whether to make the Advanced Space of the machine open to the public as a WebDAV server or SMB server on the network. Also, you can set whether to manage authentication for the users of the Advanced Space which is open to the public. If the authentication management is used, only the users registered in User Access Control for Advanced Space can use the Advanced Space. (See "User Access Control for Advanced Space.")
IMPORTANT
The Advanced Space cannot be opened to the public as a WebDAV server and SMB server at the same time.
1.
Press → [Function Settings] → [Store/Access Files] → [Advanced Space Settings] → [Open to Public].

Set whether to open the Advanced Space to public → press [OK].
[Off]:
The Advanced Space is not open to the public.
[By WebDAV]:
The Advanced Space is open to the public as a WebDAV server.
[By SMB]:
The Advanced Space is open to the public as an SMB server.
IMPORTANT
To open the Advanced Space to the public by SMB, <Use SMB Server> in Preferences (Settings/Registration) must be set to 'On'. (See "SMB and WINS Settings.")
To open the Advanced Space to the public by WebDAV, [Use WebDAV Server] in Preferences (Settings/Registration) must be set to 'On'. (See "Settings Common to TCP/IPv4 and TCP/IPv6.")

Press [Authentication Management] → set whether to use authentication management for the public Advanced Space.
IMPORTANT
For information on Authentication Management, see "User Access Control for Advanced Space."
If you set the Advanced Space to be open to the public as an SMB server and use authentication management:
Press [On].
IMPORTANT
To use the authentication management, <Use SMB Authentication> in [SMB Authentication Settings] in Preferences (Settings/Registration) must be set to 'On' and the authentication type must be set. (See "SMB and WINS Settings.")
If you set the Advanced Space to be open to the public as a WebDAV server and use authentication management:
Press [On] → [OK].
Press [WebDAV Server Settings] → [Basic].
IMPORTANT
When authentication management is used, the authentication type (Basic) in [WebDAV Server Settings] must be set.
Set whether to use SSL for the Advanced Space that is open to the public by WebDAV.
<Use SSL>:
[On]:
SSL communication is used.
[Off]:
SSL communication is not used.
IMPORTANT
To set <Use SSL> to 'On', it is necessary to first set the key pair and server certificate and then set the default key. (See "Key Pair and Server Certificate Settings for Encrypted SSL Communication" and "Changing the Key Pair Used With SSL Encrypted Communications.")
If you do not use the authentication management:
Press [Off].

Press [OK].
IMPORTANT
Changes are only effective after you restart the machine (the main power switch is turned OFF, and then back ON). For instruction on restarting (turning the main power switch OFF and then ON) the machine, see "Main Power and Control Panel Power."
Allowing to Create Personal Space
You can set whether to allow personal space to be created in the Advanced Space.
1.
Press → [Function Settings] → [Store/Access Files] → [Advanced Space Settings] → [Allow to Create Personal Space].
2.
Set whether to allow personal space to be created.
If you want to allow personal space to be created:
Press [On] → [OK].
Press [Authentication Management] → [On].
IMPORTANT
If you want to allow personal space to be created, authentication management must be used.
For information on Authentication Management, see "User Access Control for Advanced Space."
If you do not want to allow personal space to be created:
Press [Off].

Press [OK].
Deleting Personal Space/Initializing Shared Space
You can delete all personal spaces in the Advanced Space and delete folders and files stored in shared space.
1.
Press → [Function Settings] → [Store/Access Files] → [Advanced Space Settings].
2.
Delete data in the Advanced Space.
To delete all personal spaces:
Press [Delete All Personal Spaces].
To select and delete a folder inside a shared space, use the Remote UI. For more information, see "Specifying the Advanced Space Settings."
To delete folders and files stored in shared space:
Press [Initialize Shared Space].
To select and delete a folder inside a shared space, use the Remote UI. For more information, see "Specifying the Advanced Space Settings."

Press [Yes].
Prohibiting Writing from External Users
For users that accessed the machine via a computer or other machine, you can set whether to prohibit that user from creating a folder or storing a file in the public Advanced Space.
1.
Press → [Function Settings] → [Store/Access Files] → [Advanced Space Settings] → [Prohibit Writing from External].
2.
Set whether to prohibit writing from external → press [OK].
[On]:
Prohibits folders to be created or files to be stored by an external user.
[Off]:
Allows folders to be created or files to be stored by an external user.
Setting the File Formats Allowed for Storing
You can set the file formats allowed for storing in the Advanced Space.
1.
Press → [Function Settings] → [Store/Access Files] → [Advanced Space Settings] → [File Formats Allowed for Storing].
2.
Set the file formats allowed for storing → press [OK].
[Printable Formats Only]:
You can store files in pdf, jpg, jpe, jpeg, tif, or tiff format.
[Comm. Office Formats]:
In addition to file formats for [Printable Formats Only], you can store files in doc, xps, docx, docm, rtf, xls, xlsx, xlsm, csv, ppt, pptm, txt, iwd, iwt, iws, or lnk format.
[All]:
There are no restrictions on the file formats for storing in the Advanced Space. In addition to the file formats for [Printable Formats Only] and [Comm. Office Formats], you can store files in various formats.
