Setting the Address Book

You can set a password for the address book or manage address book access numbers.
Address Book Password
You can set a password for the Address Book. If a password is set, restrictions can be placed on the registering, editing, and erasing of destinations.
NOTE
You can enter up to seven digits for the Address Book password. If you enter fewer than seven digits, the machine stores the password with leading zeros.
Example: If <321> is entered, <0000321> is stored.
1.
Press → [Set Destination] → [Address Book PIN].
2.
Press [Set].
3.
Press [Code PIN] → enter the desired password  -  (numeric Keys).
4.
Press [Confirm] → re-enter the password for confirmation using  -  (numeric keys) → press [OK] → [OK].
If you do not want to set the Address Book with a password, press [OK] without entering any numbers.
You cannot store a password with only zeros as the number, such as <0000000>. If you enter a number that begins with zeros, the leading zeros are ignored.
Example: If <02> or <002> is entered, <0000002> is stored.
Access Number Management
You can set an access number for an address in the Address Book to restrict access to that address, and this restricts other users who do not know the access number from viewing and utilizing these special addresses.
1.
Press → [Set Destination] → [Manage Address Book Access Numbers].
2.
Select [On] or [Off] → press [OK].
If Manage Address Book Access Numbers is set to 'On', the Previous Settings mode cannot be used.
Setting the Make Remote Add. Book Open
You can set whether to release the remote address book to the outside client. For information on Remote Address Book, see "Scan and Send."
NOTE
To enable access number management when accessing the remote address book of the machine from an external client, set [Manage Address Book Access Numbers] to 'On' in [Set Destination] (from the Settings/Registration screen) on both this machine and the external client.
1.
Press → [Set Destination] → [Make Remote Add. Book Open] → [Make Address Book Open].
2.
Select [On] or [Off] → press [OK].
IMPORTANT
Changes are only effective after you restart the machine (the main power switch is turned OFF, and then back ON).
For instruction on restarting (turning the main power switch OFF and then ON) the machine, see "Main Power and Control Panel Power."
